In the call, the client (Speaker 1) is discussing the details of their wedding event with a musician/DJ (Speaker 0). The wedding is set to take place at a chateau outside, around a pool area, in a town called Trois Soleils. The client, originally from Ukraine but living in Canada for 13 years, is planning the event with their French husband. The event will not have a traditional ceremony as they are already married but will include a cocktail hour starting at 6 PM, followed by a reception with mostly standing tables for mingling and a few sit-down tables for older guests. The client is considering whether to have a first dance and will decide based on whether they can arrange dance lessons in France three weeks before the wedding.

The musician/DJ assures the client that they will bring all necessary equipment, including party lights, a fog machine, a sound system, and wireless microphones. They also offer to recommend saxophone players if needed. The DJ requests the client to provide a playlist of up to 25 must-play party tracks to understand their music taste and create a custom playlist for the event. Payment terms include an 18% deposit through the booking website, Fix the Music, with the remainder to be paid in cash on the day to avoid extra taxes. The client mentions a previous booking for 2022 that was postponed due to the war and inquires about the payment process, to which the DJ explains their different payment arrangement. The DJ encourages open communication for any further questions or reassurances needed for the event planning.

Speaker 0: Hello? Hello. Hello. Hello. Again, I'm really sorry about earlier.

Speaker 1: No worries.

Speaker 0: Yeah. I'm normally really, really on it with timings and whatnot, but I've had a few issues with my back, and so I wasn't thinking clearly today.

Speaker 1: Don't worry.

Speaker 0: And you're a new mother?

Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.

Speaker 0: Fantastic. Hello. There's

Speaker 1: gonna be 2 of us today deciding.

Speaker 0: Awesome. Yeah. So I have a little bit of information, from you about the the wedding, obviously, the date and the location. But, yeah, Yeah. Do do you wanna tell me some more plans that you have?

Speaker 1: Well, Chateau itself, It's not, it's not gonna be inside. It's gonna be outside.

Speaker 0: Mhmm.

Speaker 1: Around the pool area. If you Google it, you can really see the Place because I don't have pictures, unfortunately, nor the videos. I used to have it, but I changed the phone and it all disappeared, basically.

Speaker 0: So I don't have the name of the venue. It just says the town.

Speaker 1: Okay. Sorry. T r o I s.

Speaker 0: Yeah. Toa Sole?

Speaker 1: Yes. It's plural.

Speaker 0: Sorry. Could you spell that as well, please?

Speaker 1: S o l Yeah. E I Yeah. L e s. I I think I got it right. I might be wrong.

It's like 3 sons.

Speaker 0: Yeah. Chateau. Right. I'll add that and see what it says. Where are you from?

Just out of interest.

Speaker 1: Ukraine.

Speaker 0: Sorry?

Speaker 1: I'm from Ukraine, but I've been living in Canada for the past 13 years.

Speaker 0: Oh, you're in Canada now? Yes. Oh, okay. My girlfriend's Canadian. I've never been to Canada, but, Canadians are lovely people, so I must have

Speaker 1: Yes. They are. Where is she from? Which part?

Speaker 0: I'm always gets confused because her mom used to live in one part of Canada, and, literally, the very, like, The very opposite side of Canada

Speaker 1: Okay. So she that's fantastic. Columbia? Okay. Yeah.

Speaker 0: Yeah. Like, one side would be, like,

Speaker 1: It's busy? Yeah. I understand.

Speaker 0: Yeah. Come back. From from different sides. Yeah. And she loves me wearing shirts like this.

Like, she loves dresses like a lumberjack.

Speaker 1: I see. I see. Yeah.

Speaker 0: So, tell me about your I'll have a quick look at the photos, and you tell me about your plan so so far.

Speaker 1: Okay. So there is not much choice there. Will the dance floor will have to be around the swimming pool area. There is a space there, and, also, I think there is gonna be, like, a few tables there. But the tables are gonna be, like, Mostly standing, like, the small ones.

You know? We won't have, a lot of, sit down tables. There's gonna be, like, few for food, but mostly it's gonna be, Tall tables that people are just gonna stand around and, have drinks.

Speaker 0: It it's literally a castle. Right?

Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 0: Okay. I just saw a photo, but it's not the place. That's amazing.

Speaker 1: It looks big, but, Yeah. Unfortunately, the behind the yard in itself like, it has 3 2 small yards and a swimming pool area yard. But one yard, when you walk in, it has a lot of rocks, so people cannot really dance there, especially women with high heels. So we're gonna have to use the 2nd small yard for gas, for food in the area, and, also, This swimming pool area will have to be the ones where we're gonna do the dance floor.

Speaker 0: Yeah. And it's overlooking, the the river I see.

Speaker 1: You you won't see the river because, there is a bunch of trees around. So

Speaker 0: Oh, yeah. Okay.

Speaker 1: Too much covered. Yeah.

Speaker 0: Yeah. Excellent. So are you are you needing help with

Speaker 1: What?

Speaker 0: You you say here just from 5 PM till 3 AM, but will you be needing help? Like, I do a lot of weddings, and

Speaker 1: Mhmm.

Speaker 0: Normally sometimes I don't like saying normally because every every wedding's different. Mhmm. But the norm might be, the ceremony. They need wireless microphones, during the ceremony, and they obviously need speakers outside, music while people are waiting, And then music for the procession and the recession and then music somewhere. Sometimes the cocktail hour is in a different area To where No.

Speaker 1: It's all all gonna be around the same area. Microphone, yes. I imagine people will need that. We're technically, we're married already, so it's just a party. There won't be any kind of procession.

Speaker 0: So you're not having a ceremony at all?

Speaker 1: No. No. We'll just go to the church. Gotcha. We'll and then we'll come back to the castle and, you know, basically do aperitif and, after that.

And at the

Speaker 0: church, would you require any wireless microphones or anything, or that all be

Speaker 1: No. I don't think so. I've they haven't said anything like that.

Speaker 0: How many people is the wedding for?

Speaker 1: 80 plus minus.

Speaker 0: 80. Oh, okay. So I'll only be needed, for example, the cocktail hour after Mhmm. The church, you say. And background music for dinner?

Speaker 1: Sure. Yeah.

Speaker 0: Outside, this is all the same area. I'll be able to use Same Yeah.

Speaker 1: Yeah. It's all the same area. Yeah.

Speaker 0: Yes. So that's the same area. Okay. Cool. So what what time, for example, will the cocktail hour start?

Speaker 1: I imagine 6 o'clock because we'll go to the church 5 o'clock. It won't be long. I hope yes. I hope it won't. But, 6 o'clock, I would say.

Speaker 0: Okay. Cocktail hour 6 till 8, for example?

Speaker 1: Yeah. I imagine. So it it would have to ask the caterer exactly how it works.

Speaker 0: This is just approximates just to give me an idea of the timings for the day, and I I can get To be

Speaker 1: honest, I've never been to the wedding in France, so I have no idea what how they do things. It's usually my mother-in-law. She's, the one because my, husband is French. So my mother-in-law is the one who's, ashamed no more, but I really rely on your knowledge here.

Speaker 0: Okay. So so, normally, even though it's called cocktail hour, it would normally be a couple of hours. Okay. And So you might say 6 till 8. So you might or half past 7.

Speaker 1: Mhmm.

Speaker 0: And then sit down for dinner, and there might be something like a normal dinner might The 3 courses could be more depending on what you decide.

Speaker 1: But like I said, we won't have many sit down tables. It will be more like, mingling kind of. I don't know how big

Speaker 0: it is. So it's you you stand up and you take your food and whatnot.

Speaker 1: Yes. Yes. Yes. There will be a few sit down tables, like, mostly for older people.

Speaker 0: Mhmm. But Yeah. Are you gonna be having a first dance?

Speaker 1: We're still discussing. Okay. Because It is like Yeah.

Speaker 0: It it's obviously up to you guys, but I've done a lot of weddings. And what I've noticed, weddings where they don't have a first dance, Especially when you when it's like stand up food. Mhmm. People people like to know the party starts now. And when there's a first dance, it can be incredibly short, and you can invite people to join in after.

But it just means people know, ah, the party is starting now. Otherwise, there's this thing. Like, even though I'm bringing on the tunes to get people dancing, Some people don't wanna be the first ones to dance. Does that make sense? So

Speaker 1: I don't think I have a problem with that. My friends are pretty I was going when it comes to dancing. So

Speaker 0: Cool. Yeah. But, anyway, that's just my 2¢ that

Speaker 1: worst we're not gonna know until we're basically in friends, because, well, in a few months, we're going to Ukraine for a couple months.

Speaker 0: Mhmm.

Speaker 1: So here, where we live right now, it's hard to find a place. Plus, my husband is really busy, and we don't have, where to leave the baby. So can't really do that here. In Ukraine, it's gonna be, difficult as well. So, basically, if we find some place to learn the dance in France 3 weeks before the wedding, then we'll do it.

If not, then no. But I'll let you know.

Speaker 0: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Cool.

What questions do you have for me?

Speaker 1: Do you bring lights with you? Do you have lights?

Speaker 0: Yes. So the reason why I'm asking all those questions is I I bring everything, All the audio things that I need. So, yes, I've got party lights. I've got a fog machine. I've obviously got my sound system.

I've got my wireless microphones. Phones. If, for example, you were thinking about having a saxophone player, I could Advise you on different saxophone players that we could get. But, yeah, I I bring everything that's needed. Yeah.

Speaker 1: Okay. Because I'm not sure, we're still, in between decorators. So I don't know if, the one we'll We'll get we'll bring some. I imagine they offer, but, I think I think you guys also have yours. So

Speaker 0: Yeah. I've got some party lights. They're not they're not the uplighting that goes, like, everywhere across the whole, garden, for example. Mhmm. And some people do like to have all the up lighting everywhere.

Okay. Yeah. I can bring, like, 2 uplights for Nia where I'll be DJ ing, but I wouldn't supply lights in the whole garden area and lighting up the whole chateau. That would be a yeah. That would be a different company that would be doing that kind

Speaker 1: of thing. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Sounds good.

Another question. Do you need me to give you some kind of, playlist, or do you have a set playlist that you usually play in the weddings?

Speaker 0: No. I I obviously know the tunes that work really well, but what I also

Speaker 1: That's what I was hoping.

Speaker 0: Yeah. However, what I ask my clients to do, because everybody does have Different tastes.

Speaker 1: Mhmm.

Speaker 0: I asked my clients, each of you make, for example, an Apple Music or Spotify playlist With your

Speaker 1: I don't

Speaker 0: must play party tracks. So up to 25. Now why I was Like that is because I did a wedding a few months ago, and they gave me 300 tracks. They just threw them at me. And I'm obviously gonna peck pick my favorite tracks out to 300, and I don't know what their favorite tracks are.

Right? Mhmm. So if you give me your 25 must play fun party tracks, I know your taste. And then I go away, and I create, a custom made playlist for you guys on top of the tracks that I know work, but I will adapt what I'm doing to to what to what you actually like.

Speaker 1: Okay. Well, For me, personally, I do have a playlist. Approximately, what I was thinking will work for everyone because, you know, we have young people and older people. So Something that would probably work for everyone, but also, personally, both me and my husband were, Like, very diverse when it comes to music.

Speaker 0: Mhmm.

Speaker 1: I will send you some, and, you can Some problems don't even are not suitable for a wedding. I don't know. But you will have to tell me that. Well, it's it's

Speaker 0: the thing. Like, if you have a playlist that you play a lot, just scan through it, and the ones that jump out at you That Mhmm. You that it is like, I want that at my wedding. And it doesn't have to be you don't necessarily have to think of all your family and friends because At 2 o'clock in the morning, the oldies might be in bed, and some weddings, I'm playing techno. I don't have to play that, but that's what some people want.

So you can scan through and just pick, you know, Pick your favorite 25 party tracks from that playlist you have, and that would, yeah, that really, really helps, as opposed to giving me a list of 100, 200 tracks. And then I don't know which your favorite are. Right?

Speaker 1: I just Sounds good. Yeah.

Speaker 0: Yeah. Yeah. What other questions do you have?

Speaker 1: I think that's it. Just, send me your quote.

Speaker 0: Yep. Okay. Yes. So I'll send the quote through email. And just so you know how it works, we will pay an 18 depend 8 18% deposit, to the website to fix the music.

And then it's really, it's really helpful if we have if the remainder's paid in cash on the day. Okay. And that between us, that just avoids any extra taxes for you. I don't need to put any extra taxes.

Speaker 1: Because, I, original because the wedding was supposed to be planned for 2022, but with the war and everything, it will keep postponing. But that doesn't seem to be ending anytime Soon, so we decided to just do it. And, I had the DJ before, but he this news, The new tie the new date does not work for him.

Speaker 0: Mhmm.

Speaker 1: So I did, already deal with the Fix the Music website before, and, I I know they sent me before, Like, a month before the wedding or something like that to pay full amount

Speaker 0: request. Oh,

Speaker 1: I just How's that can be avoided? Okay.

Speaker 0: I just work differently to you know, each DJ works a little bit differently, but Ethan have you already paid them? Is that what you're saying?

Speaker 1: I did pay, the down payment before for the other DJ, but, that does not apply here anymore. I'm just saying that, for him, they wanted me to pay basically a full amount, like, a month before the wedding. That's why I'm asking how is that gonna work with you. Will they ask me again, or can I just pay No?

Speaker 0: You don't you'll get an email from them, and I'll arrange this with them that you just pay them An 18 18% deposit.

Speaker 1: Okay.

Speaker 0: And then, you would just give me the remainder in cash on the day.

Speaker 1: That works.

Speaker 0: Yeah. Yeah. Cool. Okay. When you when you both have any other questions or if your fiance wants to have a quick chat with me, I'm sure you can

Speaker 1: on me. Don't worry about it. It's all on me.

Speaker 0: Okay. Well, I'm here to support you. Okay?

Speaker 1: Sounds good. Thank you.

Speaker 0: If I could, I would hold your baby, but I can't. Whatever questions you have, if you're at all worried about anything and you want me to pick up the phone and you want reassuring with anything, just give me a call. Okay?

Speaker 1: Sounds good.

Speaker 0: Yeah. It's my job. The the better we have communication and get on, the more relaxed you are on the day. That's so important for you guys to have, Like, a mind blowing day.

Speaker 1: I agree.

Speaker 0: Yeah. So, yeah, please do message me with any other questions, and I'll get that quote to you. Okay?

Speaker 1: Perfect. Thank you so much. Fantastic.

Speaker 0: Okay. Have a good one. Take care. Bye.
